As being a recently passed, who just turned 21 recently, a good run around car + new insurance would roughly cost me near 3-4k. However, would it be vialble to get a brand new car as an alternative.?

Some dealers like Pegeout have a scheme out that gives free insurance, warranty, breakdown cover and servicing on its popular models and in return gives you a 10 plate car for 0% finance for £180-£250 per month.

So in totality, you could drive the car for a year, pay roughly £2.5-£3k. and then sell the car for an adequate amount to pay off your finance? and have hopefully pocketed 1 year no claims.

Peaugeot advertised this scheme and i was wondering if its available for other manufacturers, cause i dont particularly trust the french maker, it doesn't have a good reputation. I got a cousin who works in a toyota dealership, and was wondering if employees are eligible for discounts or exclusive schemes cause she has no idea.

Thanks for your input and recommendations guys.

It's not a 'scheme' at all. It's simply a financed new car with a 'free insurance' promotion, the cost of which is simply reflected in the fact you wont get the usual generous discount with the car.

Theres no such thing as a free lunch, especially at a main dealer.

New car on finance is bound to be way, way more expensive in the long run.

Best bet is to buy a small engined second hand car that will be cheap to insure, and get saving for a better car later.

Have you read the small print for these deals? A lot of them will only insure someone with 4 years NCB, and/or must be over 25 etc.

This free-insurance lark was very popular back when the Saxo was on-sale.

Then the kids all crashed them, and consequently anyone buying one later on would pay £££ for insurance as the statistics for the Saxo were pretty bad!

A years finance package is going to cost you more than 3k!!

The pug scheme is a rental with a minimum term anyway
