pretty strict requirements. All the usual stuff first, must be compatible with sata drives. must have at least usb2.0/firewire ect. Importantly though, it needs to look the part next to my ps3 and stand up on end if possible. ickle blue lights would be nice:p


Anybody have any suggestions for me?

so far, my list of possibles inclused two - the silverstone sst-ms04 and the Icy Box IB-351-StUS-B, neither of which are perfect lol

Me too please i want an external usb ide enclosure that can hold 3 or more
ide drives.
 
Mr. Miller, what is unsatisfactory about the two you mentioned. Knowing these we can know which areas need to improve.

EDIT: How about a Vantec NexStar-3 NST-360SU-BK? It's black, has what appears to be blue lights, USB connectivity, and stands on end. It lacks FireWire but makes up for it by supporting eSATA which is a heck of a lot quicker.

nothings really wrong, they just dont match the ps3 as well as i'd like. it's just me being picky:p that vantec looks interesting though, seems to tick all the boxes:)

hp7979 i did consider that icybox model, but the exterior looks to be a matt black finish? i need shiny black lol
 
ok update time. I ended up ordering the nexstar-3 that billy suggested, and a great suggestion it was!

hope u dont mind me hijacking this thread..

im in need of an external enclosure, and i really like the look of the vantec as james has next to his ps3..i have checked the specs of it, and it says it accepts hard drives upto 400GB..can anybody confirm whether it will accept hdds of 500GB or more??

What hdd u got in there james?

If the vantec cant accept > 400GB then ill have to get the icy box instead.

Just ordered one and a WD 500GB AAKS SATAII drive...should be a good combination hopefully to store all my hd stuff thats just eating away my internal hdd space :)
