Right, upgrading to AM2 But....

is this all not extremely contridictory stuff? 'don't upgrade to M2 as it won't offer much improvement over your current system' and everyone in the entire forum is bashing at the prospect of conroe, all on the start line ready to pounce with there wallets out...sounds a bit well...strange if you ask me, telling someone not to do the exact same thing your gonna do come conroes release

Yes that's what people say...

......but gtir666, if you're left sitting with no PC, then upgrade to AM2 if you're desperate or hang out at one of those Internet Cafe's to past your time. :)

Wait until Conroe comes out and see some realistic benchmarks and comparisons before making the ultimate decision on a CPU. That's what I'd do.
 
Yeah ill stick with my 939 board and just get half decent mem and cpu for not too much money to keep me going till end of the year, when we should all know benchs stability issues etc etc on both am2 and conroe.

Am i thier now? ;)
 
Thats what I'm going to do, wait till christmas/early 07 :) 6-8 months extra of saving up without thrashing your bank account now or going into silly debt on your visa's.
 
i dont see the point of selling any part of your rig right now....if you want to upgrade then at least wait till conroe is out IMO
 
dude, if you got an am2 system it would probably be a downgrade, they are slower clock for clock than ddr1/939 setups due to ram, and decent ddr 2gb stuff isnt cheap, over £200 whereas ddr 2gb kits are about £140+
 
I'm keeping my current 3700 rig, then waiting until mid-late 2007. Then i'm gonna splash out on a whole new PC, be it AM2 or Conroe, with Vista and a DirectX10 card. There, wasn't that cathartic..
