Hey OCUK,

I know I can usually rely on you guys for some help.

Just had my girlfriend on the phone in tears after some guy on the train harrassed her and freaked her out by giving her his number with some really pervy stuff written on a note.

I would like to ring him and tell him he was out of line etc etc but would not like him to know my number when I do.

What is a code I can put before this guys number so that it will show up as private when I ring him?

Yup.

Although not all networks allow 141, so you may need to go into network settings and click "Show / hide number"

Clearly "hide"

Record it + post up here :D
 
She needs to hand the note to the Transport Police. It will give them something to do other than catch people with feet on seats.

You calling him won't solve anything.
 
What do you hope to achieve by doing this?

Just forget about it, he's obviously an idiot and you hiding behind an anonymous phonecall and 'threatening' him isn't going to change that.

Actually you are right.

I think I just got annoyed someone harrassed my girlfriend.

Anyway - I think this is a short but brief thread.

I think 2blue4u was right and I will see what the note says he gave her and see what the best action is (didn't feel it was right to make her read it too me over the phone).

If it is something quite horrible written, I might ring up the Transport Police and see what can be done, I know it isn't the biggest of crimes but most men on here now how a letchy pervy guy can upset girls, specially as some can be quite vulnerable.

Hey,

Just got back to my girlfriends, and read the note - it is appears the guy was trying to be something like Hugh Grant out of a movie with a cute note but came across all letchy and wierd, and far to touchy.

type his number into a network locater to find out what network he is on. Call him up pretending to be from X networks police liaison department and basically scare the crap out of him.

That doesn't work any more as so many people move their numbers from one network to another. All it knows is what network the number was originally on....or so I've heard.
