Am i missing something here just spoken to a mate who has just got engaged and he is wearing a ring.I asked him if he had got married allready he said no it was an engagement ring .i have never in my whole life known a man wear an engagement ring other than paul the gay bloke in emmerdale.
 
I've got an 'engagement' ring; we though it would be nice for me to get a good piece of jewelery out of the occasion too! I did used to wear it on my wedding finger, although it's since been relegated to the middle finger as I've lost a bit of weight for it to be comfortable. I have to say, it did become a PITA telling people I wasn't actually married.
 
Maybe it's just a way for the man to show he's engaged as well as the woman? Probably a way for shops to make more money as well though. I've heard of eternity rings for men but not engagement rings. It's a nice thought though.
