Sad news. Another Eastenders original gone. But I'll be honest here, I thought he'd passed away a long time ago.

I was only 4 when Eastenders first started. Vague memories of its early days, but I became a bit of an addict as I grew older. Haven't watched it in years now.

Still remember him going loopy after stealing money from somewhere or other.

The character that is, not the actual person.

Edit: ahh the footy money (thanks , @LabR@t) walford fc wasn’t it?

RIP married to Wendy Richards, all those years of being hen pecked -
East Enders had subtly addressed diversity issues with much better quality stories (like coronation street) long before Netflix or even Doctor Who had woken up.

[had to laugh this evening r4 report of the crown actors walking down a red carpet to premiere their quality truth]

I remember when she banjoed him round the head with a frying pan when he had an affair

Wasn't it him (the character) stealing the Christmas club money? Then having a breakdown after getting caught. Much laughing over that the next day on the school playground...

Aaawwww, my dear dad - Bill Treacher.
It's been a tough week and a half, but we're getting through it.
It still amazes me how people still remember him - he left EE way back in '96.

I remember he had a serious condition years ago that I think led to his early retirement from Eastenders.

Then he sort of vanished from public view for decades.

RIP

Wait, what? Seriously?
Yes, he was my Dad.
He lead a good long life, but my mum, sister and I still feel just so sad.

He'd been struggling for such a long time - but now he's free.

Yeah, I've been lurking on these forums for years now, then I just saw this thread so felt I had to chime in.

This is GD after all, so I'm sure you understand I had to check.

Please accept my condolencies. I'm sorry to hear your father was suffering. I have fond memories of watching him on EE as a child.

My condolences to you. If I remember right, you played a policeman in EE quite a few years ago.

Great to see you follow in your fathers footsteps. I’m sure he was very proud.
