RIP David Leslie

One of the best racers I've seen. Used to love to watch him in the Touring cars.

RIP, legend.

RIP

I have a picture somewhere at home of him when I went to Rockingham to watch BTCC a few years back, will have to dig it out... :(

Just seen this on the front of the papers in the canteen, definitely a bit of a shock.

I had the chance to chat to him at Goodwood last year and, as others have said, he was one of the good guys, no pretentions, no arrogance just a genuine guy enjoying his weekend.

This year's Le Mans coverage just isn't going to be the same :(

RIP :(

Very nice guy, went to a Nissan track many years back and 1 of the attractions was going round the track in a BTCC replica Primaera (at least I think it was a replica) with David Leslie at the wheel.

ohh crapp, just heard the third person on board is supposed to be John Cleland another BTCC hero and all round nice guy.

That is crazy, 3 more legends now gone. If it is true about Cleland when he drove in the old Cavalier, racing against David Leslie in the Primera.

RIP to the pilots and the drivers.

No way, not heard anything about the loss of cleland too, if so an even sadder day for motorsport.

It came from guys that were at the race with them just before they flew, apparently john clelland was with them. no confirmation anywhere so it could just be hearsay/

Just found more info, judging by the ages of those involved it isnt john clelland involved appologies, seems people panicked when clelland was seen leaving with them.

Just confirmed it isnt, third victim is Christopher Allarton 25yr old race engineer who only joined the team 12 days ago.

RIP :(

Met David at the touring cars at Knockhill one year, possibly '98/99. Nice chap, spent a while chatting to me and my dad inbetween races.

Another sad sad loss of a scottish (british) sporting hero.
