Huh, I just have gsync on in ncp and vsync off in ncp and off in game. I thought this works?
I have vsync off in game, on in control panel, and I use afterburner to limit framerate to 98fps.
No lag no problems works perfectly.
probably with fastsync will not need to limit FPS.
So you should always use gsync with vsync on in NVCP and the ingame vsync settings don't matter because NVCP has priority over ingame?
Thanks for all replies so far. Why would vsync off in game be relevant if the NVCP vsync on overrides this ?
Kind of a conflict of interest, each trying to override each other perhaps?
Even if you don't notice it, it's probably causing microstutter
you shouldn't need to use afterburner to cap fps though, gsync caps the fps just below the max refresh now anyway so it solved that "reverting to vsync" problem
I have seen this mentioned a few times - is there a confirmed source for this? All the articles that do mention reverting to v sync are pretty old now so it could have definitely changed for the better.
I should probably just test it out myself with SLI disabled...
I had direct confirmation from Nvidia engineers earlier this year that G-SYNC does nothing special whatsoever to 'cap frame rates'. It simply reverts to VSync on if the framerate exceeds the refresh rate cap and VSync is enabled in NVCP or otherwise. The reason you're not seeing any confirmation otherwise is because the 'traditional behaviour' still applies here.
Anyone here tested FastSync yet?![]()
Yes and it works well. No visible teraing or stuttering for me and I am on the ball with that sort of thing.

Are you using it on a g-sync monitor? Could/would you recommend it for ye olde fixed refresh screens as well?
Does this mean if you enable G-Sync in the NCP and disable V-Sync in NCP and in game, the frame rate will not be allowed to go above the refresh rate? I'm getting my G-Sync monitor tomorrow so will have a play around with the settings.you shouldn't need to use afterburner to cap fps though, gsync caps the fps just below the max refresh now anyway so it solved that "reverting to vsync" problem
Open question: With GeForce Hotfix driver 368.51 is the FastSync option appearing in the Nvidia Control panel by default without having to use Nvidia Inspector? If so, what card are you using?
Just tested this out in Doom, eliminated tearing and no noticeable lag. It is very good, I had never heard of it before this thread.
