RIP Jim Steinman

Gah, very sad to just discover this news :(

If you, like me, were a fan of the gloriously silly bombastic 80s pop/rock epic, then this is truly a sad day. He was without equal.

Join me as I raise a jewel-encrusted goblet to mourn the passing of this rock god.

Gutted to hear this. Thought the guy was a genius. I’ve always been a massive Meat Loaf fan, but know full well he’d be nothing without Steinman. The man could tell an entire movie through one 7-10m long song. Those two together was like a lit match hitting petrol. the Bat albums are rare in that I like every single song on them. No stinkers at all.

RIP Jim

Just learning the end of this so me and the girl can have a battle on stage immediately after Deadringer For Love.

Good choice. Me and my missus at the time did both of those, and a few other tracks, on Karaoke for charity at The Rigger many moons ago, back when Kath was the landlady. Much quaffage had taken place and thank God it was long before phones had video cameras.

I'm a child of the 70s, so I dunna mind a bit of ABBA. If I can I'll nip down, but at the moment things are pretty chaotic with my old man being taken into hospital/nursing home and being moved around all over the place. He was down by you, in Ward 76a then got moved to Goldenhill and now they're talking about moving him again, this time to long term care. So yeah, things are a bit crazy at the moment.

What a naive person I must be...I assumed Meat Loaf wrote those songs!

After the first album Meatloaf lost his voice, even drank his own urine to get it back.
Steinman wrote the second album but Meatloaf was incapable so Steinman sang it himself.
The outstanding track was what I posted in the first post and Meatloaf did a sub standard version years later.

Meatloaf first sang for Ted Nugent.
