I was never a fan of new labour or their politics but Prescott was a character and I found myself quite liking him after they left power. The incident with him lamping someone who egged him was classic Prescott. A good man I think and will be missed in politics.

Are we going to have RIP for every Politician and a flood of news stories on how amazing they are? I can see it now..

RIP Kier Starma

he definitely brought a bit of colour to politics. I guess you might say he was 1% of a trump, had a little mischief and was plain spoken, and to the degree that he did it, was entertaining and a bit different.

Is this really fair? I would expect any politician that played a pivotal role in UK politics (good or bad) to have a thread yes. But I wouldn't perhaps expect a thread for 'random back bencher 4544'.

I personally didnt know he was so old, so it was a bit of a shock to read he was in his 80s! He always seemed to look like a very overweight 50 year old
