RIP Keith Chegwin

Was stood about at work years ago, chatting to one of skip drivers from firm behind ours, when his phone rang.
After hanging up, he looked confused. Said his misses had answered the door only to be stood face to face with Cheggers. Turns out it was some breakfast show that he randomly turned up & gave out money (or a cheque, don't recall). They were given £10k.
I'd quipped something along lines of "Not sure 10k is worth price of an energetic Cheggers in your face first thing on a morning" :p

R.I.P. Cheggers. Recall him from as early as Swap shop.

His last tweet: "Still not right. I will be back - But not for a bit yet. I’m so sorry"

:(

Remember him from swap shop, top of the pops, big breakfast. Knew he had battled with alcohol for years and you got the impression that under all the upbeat cheer and infectious laugh was a lot of pain..

I seem to remember he was in a film called something like "Young Robinhood" in the 70s which was shown as one of the children's films I remember CBBC would show on a Friday afternoon. I think this was one of the first things he ever did for TV. Bet it is YouTube somewhere.

RIP Keith, :(

Good memory, it was called Robin Hood Junior :), they even used to show it at the SSVC Cinema in RAF Gutersloh in Germany at Saturday morning matinees for us kids through the 70s and 80s :D

He was a good bloke on Twitter. I remember when he first came onto the service, he had no idea how to use it properly. He kept in touch with me via DM's as I was the only one actually helping him and not slagging him off. He was very grateful in the end and seemed like a really nice chap tbh. RIP funny man.

Remember him from my childhood, Swap Shop and Cheggers Plays Pop. But his funniest moments for me were on The Big Breakfast. RIP Cheggers.
