I loved him as a kid in the Carry on Films, and Doctor in the House. Rest easy old bean.

Well I never knew that, I thought that's was his natural voice

But, it leaves hope for my Manchester accent to be quelled, if not much time to perfect hiding it

I alkways liked James Robertson Justice too, my wife met him at Chester Zoo as a child, he was apparently a charmer to her mother, but nonplussed about kids... Always had a marvellously mischievous twinkle in his eye.

One of that generation that were incredibly funny in an era when you could get away with a lot more. Grew up watching those movies.

Although Carry-On films have aged pretty badly, comedy was about pushing the boundaries. So I enjoyed nearly all of the Carry-On films. I think the only one I didn't like was Carry-On Emmannuelle which I think was the last one of the original run.
