RIP Metric System

You could not be more wrong. Everthing comes in metric.

Also they do have a choice and always have. This is like sovereignty all over again.

I dont drink in pints because I drink from 338ml bottles.

I think if pubs do properly die off so will the pint.
Cans are 330 usually. Some of my bottles are.. 660? Can't remember.

But its rare I get a bottle that's a pint.

I said that companies should be able to use whatever system they like.

No, they shouldn't. That would be utterly ridiculous. Perhaps companies should also be allowed to set their clocks however they like too? Before you call out strawman, explain to me the difference. Standards are standards for a reason. If you haven't thought about what that reason is, or don't understand it, you have no business sharing your ridiculous opinion about it unless your intention is to come across as an idiot.

I am very au fait with both imperial and metric measurements as I used to work in a brewery. Having to switch between the two, not only in terms of production, but also plant was and is a complete pain in the **** and a waste of everyone's time and money.

It should be totally illegal to sell anything that requires quantification measured in anything but standard, metric gradients. By all means display an equivalent, or use different nomenclature, but the standard is the standard. 568ml of beer please barman. Call it whatever you like. And top it up please.

don't they serve pints in Germany and switzerland?

I remember drinks were decilitres though but I think 5dcl was 500ml so made it easy

The pint is like a trade mark more than anything. A bit like large, medium, small and no one is asking for those to be our offical measurements. Although I can see the Tories thinking about it.

There are some pint bottles knocking around. I think Newcastle Brown Ale used to come in a pint bottle. Most beer bottles are 330ml, there are some that are 500ml, 275ml and 250ml and the larger 660ml and 750ml. Though if you order enough, you can have whatever size you like.

You are right just checked and 330 it is. That means I have been drinking less than I thought. Because of your post I have just cut my weekly drinking down quite a lot. I feel a little bit healthier now. Cheers!

Exactly nobody really weighs themselves in kilo's.

As I said on the other thread (that seems too have been deleted) - anything that is commonly referred in relation to a measurement is never metric - and if metric fails to cut across give people the choice of both.. it will always be a pint of lager..

In fact can anyone think of anything that is commonly referred to in metric?

I use KG to weigh myself, always have and i am 51. Stones and lbs means **** all apart from a holywood movie.
