RIP Paul Walker

Not a huge fan of the films but they still have their place and he will certainly be remembered for his part in them.

If he was the driver then I'd say, fair enough, he knew the risk he was taking but as a passenger I think it makes it a bit more difficult to stomach.

RIP :(

Great person. Will be missed, watched a lot of his interviews/followed on Facebook and he seemed like a very down to earth guy.

Hope his family are at ease, really sad news.

Rip.

Well, the wikipedia article certainly has a lot of sources referencing its info. But it seems both were car enthusiasts.

Death

On November 30, 2013, at approximately 3:30 PM (PST), Walker and a friend, identified as Roger Rodas[30] by organizers for Walker's charity, Reach Out Worldwide (for victims of Typhoon Haiyan), left one of its events.[31][32] Shortly after leaving in Rodas' red Porsche Carrera GT, the driver lost control and crashed into a light pole and tree in Valencia, Santa Clarita, California and the vehicle burst into flames.[33][31][34][35] The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department declared the two deceased at the scene.[33][36] Coverage was first reported after Walker's publicist, Ame van Iden, confirmed early reports of his death.[31] Rodas became friends with Walker after meeting at a race track. He became his financial adviser in 2007 and helped to establish Reach Out Worldwide.[37] Rodas was the CEO of Always Evolving, a performance shop for high end vehicles owned by Walker, located in Valencia.[38] The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office stated that speed was a factor in the crash. Burned rubber and doughnut marks were found in figure 8 patterns on the road of the crash site, but it was not clear to officials if these were related to the crash.[31]

I didn't realise he was such a big racing enthusiast in his personal life too.

He was also an avid car enthusiast who competed in the Redline Time Attack racing series in which he raced a M3 E92 and was on the AE Performance Team. His car was sponsored by Etnies, Brembo Brakes, Ohlins, Volk, OS Giken, Hankook, Gintani, and Reach Out Worldwide.[28] Walker had been preparing for an auto show prior to his death.[29]

Walker has also owned a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R V-Spec II, that was featured in 2 Fast 2 Furious, driven by his character Brian O'Conner. He had customized the car himself for the movie, and also did many stunts in the movie himself.

Was shocked to hear of it when I woke up this morning. I'm a big fan of the F&F films and was saddened to hear about this. RIP Paul and the driver.

No word of a lie - went up to a mates last night had had a marathon of the Fast and Furious films on blu-ray, and wake up today to find put he died, def. sad news indeed :(.

Can't help but think if they were in a normal car they would have survived, that tree looks puny. Super light weight, little in protection = bad result.

OMG, I woke up reading that on Facebook and thought it must be a prank like the Jeff Goldblum one then read it on BBC news.

:( Sad
