RIP Prince

I never really knew any of his songs other than Purple Rain, it's odd because for someone who was 'massive' I rarely ever heard him getting airtime on the stations that play oldies.
A bit like Bowie as someone else said, didn't know many of his songs but knew he was a big deal.
 
The amount of people who think they are comedy geniuses by saying "Well I guess he is the artist formerly known as Prince now" is depressing.
 
I'd say not my cup of tea, but hearing some of the classics on the radio through out this morning. I like more of it than I thought. Some guy!

Was in Vegas for the CES in Jan and watched a Prince show. Which was an imitation Prince, but still good. In our group was a 20yr old, who didn't know who he even was, let alone his music. Guess i felt a little old at the time. Didn't realise that he also wrote, Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares to You..

Definitely a talent, given he could play all those instruments and wrote & composed all his music. Unlike the tat that's out there today.

Yep no doubt he had talent, but so did Amy Winehouse. What she achieved with her music in such a short space of time was quite phenomenal. I think she could have had a bigger impact long term than most give her credit for. Sometimes think she never really knew how much talent she had.

I grew up listening to Prince and I always thought his style was kind of meh, that said his writing talents were the underlying factor that made him great imo. One of his best and little known music writing, were for the Chaka Khan classic "I feel for you".
 
There's supposed to be hundreds of tracks in Prince's vault. Presumably it will all be destroyed rather than see the light of day.

Actually. someone who is currently 65 is expected to live to 85.

Children being born now are expected to live to 100.
