So I let the inks on my canon ip4000 run totally out, then put the replacements in and it didn''t work so good, lots of deep cleaning and a whole set of (cheap but very good) compatibles later still not good - had to order more inks, arrived today and installed, was looking better a bit of banding but i figured a few decent prints would do the job.
So i go to print tonight only to be greeted with the "operator error" message (bloody cheek, i'm an error free operator!) please switch of. so i switch off printer and try again nothing, 3 more goes and i decide to restart my PC as well then it decided there is no print head, so i open the top and check all is installed fine yep try again no print head, open top take carts out take print head out and reinstall. nope same again, open top to a hissing and small stream of smoke
Now my printer is dead totally no power at all - it was good while it lasted i got it second hand in august 2005 for £40 so not bad going.
So now for a new one, Although i don't do much CD/DVD printing i'd like to have the option, must have pref 5 separate ink tanks so i only need change the one colour when it's run out. I quite like the idea of an intergrated scanner (all-in-one style) i do miss having a scanner (not enough room on the desk so the little one stands on it to look out the window lol)
So my blinkered eyes have been looking at the canon MP600 for £120 but the downside is that there are no compatible inks for it, so 5 inks at £10 a pop each is expensive, and it's not cheap in the first place!
Anyone have any opinions on this printer or alternatives with good compatible inks available?
Thank you muchy!
