RIP Raleigh

I wonder what the go-to brand will now be for children to ride?

When I was growing up, I seem to recall everyone had a Raleigh & it was only once one was old enough to ride a racer that other brands entered the fray. Back then it was Dawes, Claude Butler, Vindec - to name a few.

See something about this a couple of weeks ago, cant believe its happening.

I had a Budgie, Chopper, Boxer and a few Burners.

I don't even remember the last time I saw a kid on a peddle powered bike tbh.

Seems like they've all got e-scooters or e-bikes now, hell even when I was in my teens in the 90's and early 00's I don't remember any particular brand people gravitated toward. I do remember cheap crappy bikes with heavy suspension springs being popular among my friends, it was akin to the later "gamer seat" movement where rule of cool took over and people were slapping ricer seats onto dodgy wheel bases for optimal future back issues.

Me neither - certainly not like in the 70s/80s.

Parents had no problem finding their children back then - all they needed to do was find the big pile of cycles left at the side of the road and they'd know we wern't far from there.

My brothers son turned 17 this week. Fit enough, sociable kid. Never owned a bike beyond them little plastic ones they give toddlers. I was never off mine, went everywhere on it. Different mindset these days.
