It's a sad loss for the sport, but gifting him a post-humous championship by holding non-point events is not the right move. I doubt he would want that, if say he broke his legs and couldn't participate, rather than tragically dying.

I tend to agree. I don't think anyone would want to be gifted a championship, so I can't imagine this is what he would have wanted.

Part of my wanted Thiim to come second so he and Edwards would share it. Seemed the most fair outcome to me.

Just an update, Sean was awarded The Fairfield Trophy by the BRDC for his achievements in 2013, also the Sean Edwards Foundation has been launched there is a link in my sig to the temporary page while the full site is being finished.
