RIP Sid Watkins

RIP

Are there any places to buy his books digitally? It seems like it would be quite difficult to get a hold of a copy.

Don't know about digitally, but I bought his book 'Beyond the Limit' last year & 'Life at the Limit' a few weeks back both off Ebay.
Just look a Ebay, only six books of his listed.

RIP.

Did so much to improve F1 safety, etc.

Such a top man and one of few people in F1 never to talk any bs, just said it like it was! Thank you for all you did for the sport, many drivers will be forever indebted to you. RIP.

Incredible man, humanitarian and doctor

Best wishes to those he left behind, he is in a much better place - already re-united with one of his good friends A.Senna

They don't seem to be available as digital books. That may change soon given this news.

The people on Amazon are charging a ridiculous amount for his books. Ebay wins on this one.

Oh, and possibly the best comment about racing drivers ever came from Prof. Sid.

As a neurosurgeon I shouldn’t be needed at a motor race, the drivers can’t have any brains or they wouldn’t be racing in the first place

Final edit... Honest.

Ron Dennis has made a fantastic comment:

Today the world of motor racing lost one of its true greats: Professor Sid Watkins.

No, he wasn’t a driver; no, he wasn’t an engineer; no, he wasn’t a designer. He was a doctor, and it’s probably fair to say that he did more than anyone, over many years, to make Formula 1 as safe as it is today.

As such, many drivers and ex-drivers owe their lives to his careful and expert work, which resulted in the massive advances in safety levels that today’s drivers possibly take for granted.

But, more than that, Sid was a dear friend of mine, and I’ll miss him bitterly. To his widow Susan, and to his family, I extend my sincerest condolences. He was a truly great man, and the world of motor racing simply won’t be the same without him.

A great man to Formula 1 and medicine. I've read his first book many times its so enthralling especially the chapters regarding Senna.

RIP to a truly great man, didn't know a lot about him up until a few years ago, but everything I read sounds like he was a fantastic guy and bloody brilliant at what he done.
