RIP Steve Irwin

"He came on top of the stingray and the stingray's barb went up and into his chest and put a hole into his heart," said Mr Stainton, who was on board Irwin's boat at the time.

God, that makes me feel queezy. :(

awww :(

We played with stingrays in Vegas, never knew they had the ability to do that

RIP Mr Irwin.

They will have been debarbed, they tend to do this to ones in captivity that you can swim with/stroke etc.

Not funny Steameh =/

RIP Mr. Irwin, he was a top entertainer and seemed a top kinda bloke from what I saw of him on TV. My heart goes out to his wife and kids. :(

Don't shoot the messenger. I didn't create that pic.

Someone would have posted it at some point.

RIP Steve Irwin - really funny genuine guy.

I'm absolutely totally gutted by this :(

When I was in Australia I very nearly went out of my way to meet him, but assuming I would get another chance I didnt :(

Wish I had now :(

R.I.P. Steve :( :(

Yes, I've always wanted to meet him

Oh man, this is very sad news.
Used to love his shows, always used to joke about him being killed by something.
Never thought it would happen though.
RIP Steve

I'm genuinely upset by this news, he had a wife and 2 kids aswell as his huge reptile park in Australia.

It's a tragic event, but I can't help but feel that he would have been doing a little more than just swimming over the top of the ray.

I've just come back from diving in the Caribbean and we encountered numerous rays, some with a wingspan of about 3m - none of which stayed still long enough for you to pee them off enough for them to raise their tails.

Still really sad,

R.I.P Steve

RIP Steve Irwin
Conservationist, Environmentalist, Personality, Husband, Father, Son.

Deepest commiserations to his wife and two young children.

I used to love to watch his shows, learning about how he is more than a crazy man who uses himself as croc bait! A massive amount of conservation work on his behalf!

A very sad day, RIP!

You were one of the very few people who I believe have lived there lives to the full, every single day.

You will be missed, R.I.P. Steve Irwin.

tempting fate by swimming over th top of a creature that kills by aiming its 'weapons' upward....was a bull ray or somethin like that
