A story about two SAS dogs fighting alongside British forces was in the Sun yesterday, i meant to post but forgot:

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...2882585/SAS-build-shrine-for-hero-hounds.html

"Brave Thor refused to let go of an insurgent's leg despite being shot three times and hacked at with a machete. He had to be put down due to his injuries."

I can't imagine what it would be like to be in battle, the noise and things whizzing past and how I could ever remain strong and of clear thought, but the fact these dogs managed to do the job so well is so  but so :( in how it ended.

My family has had two german shepards over the years and every one i've met has been a real character. I love them!

If i were anywhere near the memorial i'd go and put down a couple of bones for their hard work.

RIP

You would be surprised how calm dogs are when in battle.

Iv seen quite a few documentaries when they are clearing compounds with rounds going off and they are just stolling along as if they are going for walkies in the park, think its more because they got used to the environment though

Fair play to the dogs :(

RIP doggies

I know, they are really clever. I just don't know about that, as neither me or my dog has been to battle! (and she runs away from burglars, anyway! :p). Not all dogs are good fighters though, and that is why i find the fact that this dog took three hits and got tore to bits with a machette and was still holding onto the insurgant even more amazing.

I hope the 'insurgent' who hacked at him met a lovely end..

I know you will probably take the mick but this actually stuck in my head/throat for a lot of yesterday. I can't believe how much I admire an animal!

The dog should have took him in the balls, much more painful

If I knew I was going to die, yes, but not for the taste or experience, but to inflict more pain on my killer :(

Dogs don't know to go for the nuts... not consciously i don't think anyway.

I just wanted to bring this up to show its not just men and women putting their lifes on the line for us.. go doggies go!

Dogs are so hardcore, no fear just do what they are told to.

I watched one of those police whatever US shows the other day, and an officer was attacked by a man with a knife sent the dog at him who got stabbed up a bit. He called the dog off then the man attacked again so he sent the dog in again who got stabbed.

It survived but was scared of the dark, so they re trained him and he was good to go again, awesome dog.

where's that gif of the dog running and jumping over a car to bite a gunman?

edit here it is :D
