When using avidemux to rip DVDs, it's generally necessary to resize to correct the ratio and crop to get rid of black borders. Which should I do first to ensure the intended display ratio is not distorted? For example, if I know my DVD should be displayed at 16:9 ratio, should I resize first to get this ratio, then crop any black borders? This order would make sense to me, rather than crop then resize. Have I got this right? Does anyone know if this is the order that automated ripping software (eg. AutoGK) uses?

Thanks!

Shouldn't matter should it? The crop and resize are both filters that you apply during the encode just make sure that you have the crop filter applied when doing the encode else the bitrate used will also apply to the black borders which will just be a waste.
