hi guys

i've built an image from a target machine and saved it on server via riprep.exe. All went fine.

every PC's got computer name and static IP address starts from :

computer name static IP
PC10 192.168.0.10
PC11 192.168.0.11
PC12 192.168.0.12
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
PC90 192.168.0.90

etc

so press F12 button on client machine, enter my admin/password and select the OS to install, but how can i get the RIS server to give each machine computer and and static IP address?

many thanks :)

You said your RIS worked??

I got a problem whereby the client PC cannot find the network drivers to begin the install of the Operating system image located on the RIS Server.

can you shed any light?

Computer names are easy, either enable a customer installation in Group policy or prestage the client.

I've never wanted to give static IPs so I'm not sure about that, but you could just reserve IPs in DHCP to solve the problem.

its the company's policy, all machines must have computer name which same as end of the IP address. (static IP) :(

You need to make sure the network drivers are in the right places. They have to be in:
1. The OEM Folder (this is used during the install)
2. The i386 folder for the image (this is used for the initial setup before the install starts)

It may also need to be within the standard XP (I assume) image which isn't sysprepped or anything, depending on the driver.

Have a look here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315279

Yeah if you've not RIPrepped, then it will be in the standard image that is created during the initial RIS setup.

Lex yeah i'm on MSN (in trust), but at work so i may not respond too quickly.
