Just replaced my 3080FE with a 5070 I picked up cheap, put it in my main rig, no output, needed my PC for stuff so put the 3080FE back in and tested the 5070 in my open air test rig, worked fine..

Took me about 2 hours of messing with PSU cables and stuff to realise I'm using a board that supports PCIe x5, and a GPU that supports x5, and a bloody x4 riser cable...

Dropped into the BIOS, set the mode from Auto to x4, surprise surprise, everything now works...

So, as I'm using the SSUPD Meshiliscious, what cables do people recommend to replace the x4 version, as I'd rather just swap the cable than have to remember to set the mode again if I ever default the BIOS for whatever reason...

Linkup v3 double reverse 14cm if you’re using itx. Alternatively meshroom had gen5 risers available on their store. I got a 40cm version for ATX but never got round to testing it.

Edit: also what board is it. Some have jumper pins or switches that make it auto gen3/4 to prevent this sort of thing.

Asus Z790i Lightning, I'll have a dig through the manual, wasn't aware some boards had jumpers to solve the issue, cheaper than a new riser...

I had that board, it's on that little card where you plug in motherboard headers, the switch has 3 positions.

I am running the Meshlicious as well. I have left mine at X4, not much difference in performance. I also have my own little check list of the things to do after any BIOS updates, which includes the X4 setting for the GPU.

Yeah, I could do the same, but, for what I've already spent this month on stuff I don't need, what's adding a bit more for a cable that I'll never see, and forget exists as soon as I stick the sides back on the case :D
