The only thing is i have a couple of games in my library on the Oculus but got my fair share on steam too. Will have to restart on steam library and forget the games in oculus library.

I saw an article post video about some people whose Quest 2 wouldn`t work cos they didn`t put their real names into it. But I don`t know how true it is. just as long as I don`t have FB I`m happy.

Luckily I never bought anything off Oculus and that was way before the FB thing happened. For some reason I chose not to touch it and just bought my VR games off Steam and GOG.

The rift CV1 and Rift s Was the best cheapest VR head set around with good exclusives but they chucked that out of the window with the Oculus quest 2 making it even cheaper but using cheaper material as well.

You really can see where they skimped on materials compared to rift s. Some have said that the elite strap broke on them too on some reviews.

Oculus didn't make the Rift S so that's probably why the quality differs so much.

Lenovo made it and licensed the Halo design from Sony.

Oculus's best headset isn't even their own.
 
Who is to really say there wont be a new Rift down the line. Facebook say a lot of things. They wont want to hamper sales of the Quest 2. If there sales are not as expected they will compromise too. You could see a new Rift just spring up in few months giving them the chance to suck another £400 from Quest users.

I will not be buying if they do I'm moving to another brand. They dug there own grave on this one.

I will wait a year or so and see what be coming out. Microsoft might release one yet for windows and the new xbox series x.

The Rift S isn't Oculus's best built headset? It was one of the many complaints about it when it launched. How poor the build Quality was.

You must have never used the Civ 1.
 
CV1 worked great, and was a pretty good design for a first consumer headset. I had no big issues with three sensors either. All I really wanted was a higher resolution version with less god-rays. Everything else about it was great - light, comfortable, excellent audio and amazing, comfortable and robust controllers.

The two main problems with it were the audio ribbon cable breaking, and the lack of cable replacements when they discontinued it.
 
Of the roughly half a million CV1 units sold, I bet there are still a good number of them still kicking around that are regularly used and are in good nick.

I still wish they could recreate the original Touch Controllers!! They just felt so perfect when playing games. For me, no controllers have come close.

And they were practically indestructible!!

I wonder if you could hack the guts of the new controllers and fit them to the CV1 controllers? Somebody must have tried it.

Yea, if you got the Rift S before mandatory FB you can use it without until 2022, I believe. So magnanimous of them. Like a Baron telling the serfs they can use the land until he kicks them off in 2 years- or until he locks the collars on the necks.

Some companies forget to have respect for the consumer that pays money that puts food on their table.
