I know there was a few players on here when RF was originally released.
Games Campus Europe a German company have bought up the rights/whatever to run a new EU server.

The game will be the latest patch/release and fully supported. unlike the old Codemasters version.

The Beta starts tomorrow, sorry for the short notice for those of you that want to play, only just found out.

Hope to see some of you there :)

The PvP in this game has been unmatched in any MMo I've played since they shut down the servers from the Codemasers
release and am hoping for more of the same PvP wise, was so much fun.
 
I'm running this on my horrible work laptop i3 , 3GB Ram, Intel HD Graphics, minimal settings works fine, medium, fine, will try high settings see how it goes, certainly feels smoother than it used to.

about 2.5GB Download

Can't hurt for a free game!
 
Has much changed in the game between CodeMasters version and this latest patched version. Still the same 3 races i assume; cyborgs, elves and humans who can drive the mechs?
 
I was the Accretian Race Leader for quite a long time during the Codemasters version on Novus, the game was pretty fun and it was only the 2nd MMO that i had ever played, but once you play other games you realise how little content there is in RF, and the only thing going for it is the PvP which isn't well balanced at all.

That being said the full scale chip wars were fun even if balance wasn't great.

The CCR hosted server were horrendous, game breaking latency :(
As much of a shambles that Cm made of it in hindsight they ran it well :eek: never thought I would say that lol. Main issue was lack of support and patches from CCR.

Yeah it seems to run a lot better than it used to, or is it just us wiith better machines than all that time ago :p

Massive changes game wide mate, new combo systems, new mining systems, new mechanics, changes to classes, well worth a look.

The game was great fun if you had a good group of people to play with, immense PvP and a god almighty horrendous grinding experience, made some good friends whilst playing this, most of which I still speak to on a regular basis.

Weren't you RL before Novus too? I certainly remember you, weren't you on wind to start with? Or was it just from Novus I remember you?

We've played a fair few MMO's since RF but still not found any games to
match the PvP in RD.

If by repetitive you mean grindy then yup :)
Quests were very few and long time in between them.
End game really was a chore, well worth it tho when that lvl 50 went Ding :)

Should pop yer heid in the new one, PvP was always immense, XP rates mean we should get some lower level PvP in too :)
 
I remember being in KoS in this and we had all the dodge monkeys before they added all the + acc items so we couldn't be dodge monkeys any more :( I also remember our whole race hating us because at one point all the RL and Archeons were in our guild, also we were in the first issue of the RF Online magazine with an interview with the GL which was cool.

Love this game, so much fun. Also loved the fact you didn't have to quest and could just grind, grind and grind! Also loved that you could go off the map to level up skills/pts but that's another story ;)

Also loved the way the bosses were done in that whoever did the most damage their group got the loot.

Wow small world, i remember that name now that you mention it.

I used to help run one of the games fansites and dabbled with assisting the GM's in some of the community events. But i lost interest early into the CodeMasters version due to burning out on the other foreign versions while making guides for the fansite :/
 
Ah good old KoS, Drama central if I remember rightly ;)

Don't get me wrong those guys were XP crazy but the way they went about it and treat other people didn't go down well with some.

The voting/archon thing? People being unhappy with it?
What do you expect when you use packet injection to dupe votes? :p

Yeah I remember the mag with the Interview, was a good read, they stopped the mag fast tho :(

Lets not mention "falling off" the map eh ;)

The boss mechanic was good and KoS abused this stealing PB's from people, they didn't like it when it happened to them tho, lol
 
Well, all I can say is that I hope the PvP isn't as one sided as it was back in the dark ages.. when I played, it took both other races working together to stand a chance at beating the Accretians
