Hi,

I hope someone can help me please

I want to run a version of riva tuner which allows me to cap frame rates. From 20-60 range.

I want to run it on windows 98 however. All versions I can find on the internet that run on windows 98 don’t have a frame limiter function

If someone can help me please would be greatly appreciated

Richard

I'm not sure if it would be useful but you could force vsync on using driver settings then set your screen to 30/60hz? Doesn't give you that much control though.

Hi many thank for the reply, yes I was thinking that but I can’t go low enough, battleship from hasbro 1996 needs around 20fps to play normally . Also I wouldn’t want a slow mouse cheers

Emulation or real hardware?
What CPU are you using?

I remember using a program called MOSLO back in the late 90s to play older 90s games properly.
Hi-octane was a good example - A racing game where it needed around a 75mhz cpu to run in VGA or 133-150mhz to run in SVGA.
If you ran it in VGA mode though with faster machine, it ran way too fast.
Just poor game programming.

Side story - for one of my uni projects 20 years ago I made a flash game called ‘4 speed’

It was similar to Pong but 4 spaceships around 4 corners and a bouncing earth in the middle that you had to keep inside the screen.
It worked but the logic was knackered and the seconds timer would alter each time the earth hit a spaceship so it would go up way too fast. When asked, I said they were “speed seconds” and it was part of the game. I ended up getting a Merit. Pretty good game really ignoring the timer :D
