Rival Towns?

Cardiff and Swansea. Only becuase of football really.
Next year if Swansea get promoted, hell will break loose at either teams stadium, that's if they allow away fans in.

Not really, Leeds is the only decent city in Yorkshire. Gotta go further afield to get any rival.

I'm not being funny, but every Leeds person I've ever met or worked with has been an absolute nobber who thinks that Leeds is the "London Of The North".

I have no great love for Sheffield or it's inhabitants either.

And don't get me started on Chesterfield.....

Its strange but you have to live down here to realise the difference, i can tell when someones a Brummie or if they are from Dudley, Walsall, Cannock.. they are all slightly different

Its like how peeps from Middlesborough get ****ed off if you call them Geordies

I bet you have been asked if you are from Manchester before now, probably by someone from down south

This man speaketh the truth, as said earlier Brummies are thick, and are ****s too.

Pretty typical of yorkshiremen, they seem to think they are so bloody superior with their flat cap's and sodding whippets.

I much prefer Lancastrians.Seem a frendlier bunch.

I was born in Manchester and don't understand this rivalry. Could someone please explain for me?

It mainly comes from the industrial revolutions when they were rivals in the textiles industry. Liverpool had the port and to could look down on Manchester and make extra money charging the Mancs to ship their goods. So the Mancs built the Manchester Ship Canal......

Too busy with out sodding whippets to think this, we just KNOW we're superior.

Newcastle / Sunderland? Though I guess that's mainly a football thing.

Actually has some more historical roots than football iirc, a lot of rivalries do, they are generally irrational now but its fun having rivalries etc, it also helps with community spirit! haha.

Manc+lpool to far apart to have rivalries? urmmmm, no. theres a rivalry there, its quite obvious in certain parts.

Hartlepool & Darlington, WE HATE DARLO!

14bouncer seperating millwall& west ham, it took more than 14 to keep millwall safe from us ;) soft southerners ey!

I remember huge fights between Pontefract and Knottingley in the Ferrybridge playing fields.

Pontefract and Castleford also has some good history in the fisticuffs department.
