No idea, it has been there till last 2 builds for me, I used to have 2 diff fan sections on the 8000 cards but only the one we have now when I has the 7000 series.
Right, pretty much a nub to this whole OC'ing business, so basically I open RivaTuner go to Performance 3D
Then just keep incrementing my Shader Clock, and running ATITool and some other tests, and keep doing this until it artifacts and then go down to a 'working' value.
And then repeat for Core and then memory?
Also, what sort of temp is too high (8800GTX) and how long should I do this artifact test for? And for Fan is it enable Low-level fan control and then just whack it up to 100%?
How do I adjust the shader clock, I can't seem to find the option.
Thanks
Just a thought. Have you tried going into power user and go to Nvidia\fan\current device and set in there.
Applyatstartup set to 1
Don;t forget fan speeds are in hex so for 100% fan you need 64
Hmm i've clocked quite a bit higher than what's in my signature now, including some shader clocking for the first time.
It screws up on Atitool, almost instantly, however i've played the following games with no artifacts:
Bioshock, Crysis beta, Team Fortress 2 & CS : S (both source engine so not much graphics there anyway) & World In conflict.
Would the clock be fine then?
Also gets 10.9K in 3dmark06, and there are no artifacts the the entire test, watched it very very closely. That's up from 9K straight without clocking, very impressed. My old clock managed about 10.5K.
Can't be bother posting an image so will try and describe
Run Rivatuner 2.05
Driver settings >customise > system settings (this opens the first tabe where you set your core, shader, memory overclocks yes?)
Next tab on the top is fan. Click on that and you will see seperate settings for each type 2d, low 3d and performance 3d.
Don't bother with the bit you went to and may be best to switch that bit off as from memory I think it overides the above fan tab settings.
Have fun!
Oh yes and don;t forget to save and tick the box "apply fan settings on startup"
greebo what system you running as i asked the lad who made rivertuner unwinder and he said
1) You're not supposed to have this tab on your hardware
2) You're not supposed to have this tab under your OS
so was wondering if you were running xp
What is the big fuss lol. I have downloaded this along with the 169.71 drivers and I have OC'ed from 621/1458/2016 > 621/1620/2016 and I notice no differnece at all. 3DMark 06 score was 11404 now is 11662. Not a 'major' jump. And while testing the World in Conflict demo benchmark my score actually went down when I OC'd the sahder clock? Am I doing something wrong or are you all exaggerating?
