RivaTuner 2.05 Released

with the lastest drivers in xp and my new shader clocks bioshock runs so fast its amazing.

got my GTX now at 621/1620/2016 chuffed ^^

Just a thought. Have you tried going into power user and go to Nvidia\fan\current device and set in there.

Applyatstartup set to 1

Don;t forget fan speeds are in hex so for 100% fan you need 64

well used ati tools to check for errors, started with shader then core then memory and mine will only go to 630/1480/985 and after that get errors, but this card is a beast anyway and a little extra always helps, thanks for all your help

Right, pretty much a nub to this whole OC'ing business, so basically I open RivaTuner go to Performance 3D

Then just keep incrementing my Shader Clock, and running ATITool and some other tests, and keep doing this until it artifacts and then go down to a 'working' value.

And then repeat for Core and then memory?

Also, what sort of temp is too high (8800GTX) and how long should I do this artifact test for? And for Fan is it enable Low-level fan control and then just whack it up to 100%?

That's about it in a nutshell. One you have gone down to a working value in ATI tools just run 3dmark06 in a loop or some graphical intensive game for a few hours to ensure stability. If you get artifacts or hangs just go back in and lower some more.

Can't help with the temp question however your system is likely to be unstable if temperature gets too high so don;t worry about actual temps acheived as you will know if it's too hot.

How do I adjust the shader clock, I can't seem to find the option.

Thanks

It's there by defualt in vista. In xp open rivetuner, select power user tab, open rivatuner/system, scroll down to NVAPIUsageBehaviour and change it to 1

Then you will have shader clock slider as well as core and memory.

This is all from memory but i;m sure somebody will correct me if wrong

I think its only lets you make profiles for Temp v RPM, not full speed on sensing 3D :(.

Hmm i've clocked quite a bit higher than what's in my signature now, including some shader clocking for the first time.
It screws up on Atitool, almost instantly, however i've played the following games with no artifacts:
Bioshock, Crysis beta, Team Fortress 2 & CS : S (both source engine so not much graphics there anyway) & World In conflict.
Would the clock be fine then?
Also gets 10.9K in 3dmark06, and there are no artifacts the the entire test, watched it very very closely. That's up from 9K straight without clocking, very impressed. My old clock managed about 10.5K.

World in Conflict stresses the gfx big styles so if fine in that then you will be okay. Good overclocking btw.

Can't be bother posting an image so will try and describe ;)

Run Rivatuner 2.05

Driver settings >customise > system settings (this opens the first tabe where you set your core, shader, memory overclocks yes?)

Next tab on the top is fan. Click on that and you will see seperate settings for each type 2d, low 3d and performance 3d.

Don't bother with the bit you went to and may be best to switch that bit off as from memory I think it overides the above fan tab settings.

Have fun!

Oh yes and don;t forget to save and tick the box "apply fan settings on startup"

greebo what system you running as i asked the lad who made rivertuner unwinder and he said

1) You're not supposed to have this tab on your hardware
2) You're not supposed to have this tab under your OS

so was wondering if you were running xp

What is the big fuss lol. I have downloaded this along with the 169.71 drivers and I have OC'ed from 621/1458/2016 > 621/1620/2016 and I notice no differnece at all. 3DMark 06 score was 11404 now is 11662. Not a 'major' jump. And while testing the World in Conflict demo benchmark my score actually went down when I OC'd the sahder clock? Am I doing something wrong or are you all exaggerating?

Yeah, i'm on xp. Didn't realise it was different in vista. Normally the vista version has more like shader clocks. By default the xp version doesn't.

Makes me wonder about his first response about "not on your hardware". Does that mean it's only there on 8800 GTS cards in xp?

You must be doing something wrong. What shader results did you get in 3dmark06? Don't forget 3dmark06 is skewed very much in favour of cpu.
