RivaTuner 2.05 Released

Yay I can now OC my shader clock and not OC the mem/core !

Is there no point in overclocking the mem/core then?

This new version of Rivatuner is great! :D

I went from 1350 shader clock to 1600! :D

I'm sure I can push the shader and core further with this, and perhaps my mem too. But I've been using this tool and testing/benchmarking with 3DMark06 for over an hour now and it's become very boring tbh. Don't understand how people can do this for fun, but whatever floats your boat I guess! ;)

Now running at 625/1600/1024 without any troubles at all. :)

100%, thats what the little funny Zip icon file is, I also put a copy of it in RivaTuner DIR for good measure.

Try booting with F8, turn on driver signing then install.

Driver signing is turned on as i have never turned it off, tried reinstalling and get the same problem on boot up saying the driver is not signed?

I have quad core and games are ripped apart at stock speeds so I see no need to make my already 71 degrees idle card any hotter by upping the core/mem !

This build has issues, someone over on their forums has his own issues and wants old build DL link back up.

I run my card at 330mhz Core 2D all the time (as low as Rivatuner lets me without messing about too much), as I do not need its stock 655mhz to surf web etc plus the added heat in a quiet PC as fans are all 50% most times.

Anyhow, I have always set that way and even in the last build with the shader settings through Power User Menu, but this build gives me random Nvidia driver has crashed and recovered MSG's in Vista64, it does this a few times then BSOD, with a MSG about some USB Driver.

It only happens if I use the lower 2D speed and can do it at total idle or playing some mp3 or surfing the WEB.

I think I will go grab 2.04 as there is really no need for the extra slider for me, I simply set previous build to -1 and that keeps my Core/Shader at Nvidias default ratio and then set Clocks to 700/2400 to game.

Now it was fine before I installed this build as I had forgot to slow down my 2D speed till later and thats when issues started

Performance gain is as follows: shader>core>memory

Find you highest shader, then your core and finally your memory.

Shader gives the biggest performance boost but core is worth it too maybe about half the boost the shader does. Memory hardly helps at all so that's why you do that last.

If lowering your memory means you can get a higher core do so.

Have you tried running the driver signing file that comes with the setup file?

I have downloaded RivaTuner205,extracted the file then gone into setup ran the RivaTuner exe file as that is the only file in folder. It then installs ok but halfway through the database builder is comes up with the unsigned driver warning.I'm starting to pull my hair out over this & where do i find the signed driver file?

Thanks.

There should be two files in the archive, one is the rivatuner setup and one is the update file that automatically gets applied when you install rivatuner, this contains the signed driver.
Make sure you download it from guru3d.com

Is this when it asks you if you would like to update during installation? If so i have ran this & it stills comes up un-signed driver.

NV/MS Vista bug was my issue abover as of running 4GB of Memory

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/display/wddm_timeout.mspx

So Rivatuner was NOT to blame, very weird as I had passed hours of Othos and 3DMark(s) and Memtest For Window with a 1900mhz FSB (475x8=3.8GHZ) with Memory Linked in Sync so running 950mhz be it slacker timings, then back at stock it starts to act up basically at near idle.

Total fluke and now I know there is another Vista 4GB issue thats not about X-FI's lol.

i tried 630/1500/1000 and got 13100 in 3dmark06 and all seemed fine but how can you tell your best shader clock speeds does it lockup or do you get artifacts, thanks

ARtifacts first then lock ups if you go too high. Same as normal really.

I was disapointed to discover I can't do any better than 1572 which was what I had with my core anyway.

I saw a 8800 GTS in a review get 1720 on shaders but I guess they get sent "golden samples" so they can write up great overclocking reviews.

I can clock mine to just over 700 core, just over 1700 shader and 1000 memory... cannot remember exact numbers..

I go a really good clockers, just wish it was a 640mb GTS instead of 320 :(

I was able turn the shader clock up to 1620, and in combination with the new NV driver - this has increased my CoH performance test by about 10 fps. Nice1.
