I got a letter in the post yesterday, addressed to the former owners of my house:

"Important information enclosed about the redirection of mail from this address."

This is regarding the redirection, to their new address, that they set up when they moved out.

Can anyone spot the deliberate mistake or sheer incompetence in this?!

Nah, I didnt open it, that was written on the front.

Still seems a bit silly to me, sending to the place that its to be redirected from... kind of suggests that the redirection hasnt worked... makes my brain hurt thinking about it.

My mates dad got a letter last week from the Royal Mail sending him confirmation of the change of address. Turns out, some fraudster had gone to the local royal mail office, paid them however much it is to change address, and had had a weeks worth of business mail rerouted to a PO-BOX. All this without the RM asking the fraudster for proof of ID or anything . Police are currently looking into it, but seriously, what a retarded system.

they send it to both new and old address...for good reason...someone random can call and re-direct your mail to their house....and you wouldn't know about it, this way you would...nothing silly about it

They need proof of change address though? it’s the counter staff at the desk which has screwed up, You need to supply 2 bills one with your old address and the new address, the last time I checked??

It cant just be that easy.

over the phone you only need to use a card for the name you are re-directing that is registered to the address. easy to be caught by fraud tbh.

over the counter you need more id for fraud reasons.
