RMA 6800 le but returned a 6600gt!

The 6600GT is better anyway, you might aswell keep it.

A 6600GT will beat a normal 6800 in 3dmark05.

A 6600gt isnt better, people dont buy low end 6800's to run them at stock :D, it's their overclockability and unlockability that make it better than a 6600gt and more seductive to buyers.
 
no a 6800le has a 256bit memory bus and loads more memory bandwidth than the 6600gt

if i were you i would do my best to get a 6800le back out of them or a cash back settlement.

then again the 6600gt does have a fully working video processor. if your after hardware HD decoding then stick with the 6600gt.
 
ive been in the same boat but with a 6800nu and i wasnt happy to have the 6600gt- i made a fuss and am in the process of getting a 6800gs in return. They really should have consulted you about it too.

i cant compare the 6600gt to the 6800le but i can tell you that the 6800nu has performed far better than the 6600gt in every thing i have done with it + you can run aa and af without much performance hit which is a definate advantage, so as far as im concerned the 6600gts are not a fair match to any 6800 even if it is throttled back!!
 
My 6800GT died, and they sent me a HIS Excalibur X800XL, so I can't complain. Would love to receive a X850XT instead though :D
 
Not trying to fleece them, just want something which is suitable to me and comparable to what I originally wanted. I wouldn't mind a pci-e substitute actually as would give me an incentive to upgrade the rest of my gear. Fingers crossed and will let you know what they say tomorrow!

Unfortunately for me, my GeForce 6800LE wouldn't allow me to unlock those extra pipes without getting glitches, but glad I flogged at a decent price. :) £77 is an OK deal.

If anything, you should aim for another 6800 at least. :) Good luck!

i was also interested in changing to pci express when my card died- but seeing as i eventually got a replacement of a 6800gs i wasnt prepared to spend the extra of a pci-e mobo.

my advice to you is to do some research on the web and see if you can find sites that still sell 6800le as well as 6600gts so that you have a decent price comparison- then you can use this as leverage when you talk with the distributer.

Had a look and it seems the 6800le is priced above the 6600gt by about £10 so I have not been given a card of equal value or higher. Going to ring them tomorrow from a landline assuming they are open? Don't want to be stuck hours on end from my mobile
