I have had the horror of reading an e-mail {from a competitor} that a RMA has been closed after a month of an authorised request, due to no action by me. However...

I told the company about a mispicked monitor within an hour of receiving the parcel, by e-note. They told me to use the online returns section to start the process of a RMA, which I did, within minutes.

After lunch that day, I received an e-mail, asking me to ring their returns section for authorisation. I rang them, explained the mispick and asked for the correct monitor to be sent as soon as possible. Authorisation was granted and the collection was arranged by their contracted courrier the following day.

That night, I wrapped the monitor box in an oversized plastic bag, with the address and RMA number taped to the bag on both of the large faces of the box.

The following day, between 1000 and 1100, the very same courrier driver took the mispick away and I signed his paperwork, but I was not given any sort of receipt. I thought this was a little odd, but it was the first time I've ever had this sort of situation with a mispick from an e-tailor.

Due to the Easter weekend, I expected the mispick to be sorted out by the end of the following week. However, I have had to send several e-notes over the last month, trying to find out what was causing the delay (without getting a straight answer, with delays in responding to each e-note).

I would really appreciate some advice on what I can do from here. I've got nothing to show for a £200+ monitor and the e-tailor claim they do not have it either! Presumeably the signature I gave when the parcel was collected will prove I did pass the parcel to the courrier?

I wouldn't be too concerned, they know they sent their courier to you and the courier will have paperwork to say he collected it. If the courier has fluffed their paperwork you still have one simple fact to fall back on - they sent their courier to pick it up, so failing any evidence to the contrary I think anyone would reasonably expect they did.

Good luck getting the replacement though, they don't sound too easy to deal with - maybe give them one more message and if they don't respond with something sensible write them a letter, post it recorded and hope someone more senior sees it.

Faiiling that, maybe trading standards could advise you? If all else fails, MCOL - and get a receipt in future!

Due to the length of time since this fiasco began, I have asked for a refund, rather than a correct pick. Sods law, after just ringing them, the returns section is not open today and so things will not be resolved until Monday at the earliest. Ho hum...

Hope you get it sorted mate good luck, let us know how you get on.

You have worried me a little as i just had city link pick up a monitor for ocuk rma and i didnt get any kind of receipt from that guy either i just signed where he told me to sign :|

this wouldn't happen to be **** would it!?

Had had loads of problems with them with an RMA concerning some PC Speakers.
eNotes take 6 days for a reply, phone calls last for upwards of 20mins on hold at 10p a min. not impressed.

If the company organised a collection at yours - check that they gave you a tracking number - in the case of **** they do. This will redirect you to city link's website where you can check where it is.

As tele says if they sent the courier out to you, you have a very good case for proving the courier picked the goods up and delivered them, which makes it their problem to sort out (final ring up, then recorded delivery letter addressed to the head of returns or manager, then if all else fails small claims court/trading standards).

I think I know the retailer you are talking about as my younger brother is currently waiting on an RMA'd hard drive with them*, and they still haven't acknowledged receipt of the drive despite it having been delivered to them on Tuesday (their own courier shows it was delivered), and the support line stating they currently have a 24 hour turnaround on testing RMA's.

*Almost as easy as a mispick to sort out in theory, it's giving a smart error at boot/in windows.
