So I got in touched with Overclockers to RMA my faulty 280X and the adviser said it would take 5 days to test the card and if found faulty it would het sent back to ASUS for repair or replacement and that will take another 28 days.

I mean come on that's like 5 weeks what am I supposed to do in that time? this is just not on so I have made a complaint.

Anyone had any issues like this?

My 7990 spent 6 weeks in RMA (5 at ASUS due to Christmas holidays). Was a good time to catch up on some TV shows (Breaking Bad). Not much you could do I'm afraid, that's why I avoided ASUS for my next purchase as I believe other brands have less lengthy RMA processes with OcUK.

That does not sound good

I was asking for a replacement (as I bought that 7990 at a killer price), that's why they had to send it to ASUS after they verified it's broken. I believe if a refund is what you want you could get it straight away.

If the card is under a year old, I'm pretty sure OCUK deal with it themselves rather than send it across the globe.

They said this applies for the first 28 days which I have never heard before.

All other retailers I have had a problem have replaced items which are not over 12 moths old.

As for a refund they said they won't give me not sounding good at all.

I can confirm this is not OCUK's fault at all, as stated after 28 days you have to return the product to the manufacturer but OCUK will also allow you to send the product back to them and then they return it to the manufacturer which I think is nice.

RMA times change a lot between different manufacturers etc

standard is normally a cover of 28 days minimum doesn't mean it will take that long. some rmas i had from here have been less than a week before.

While I rate ocuk cs very highly, they're not doing it out of niceness, they're obliged to.

With the time it takes? Again, that's a standard thing, 28 working days from date of receipt as I understand it.

My rmas have generally been tested and sent on within the day (which is absolutely outstanding)
And depending what the item is, the return has either been days or a week or two.

OCUK have a knack for generally doing far more than they're obliged to do, which is why I pretty much exclusively buy from them. This is why their CS is good.

It's maximum.
After 28 working days, from what I've gathered, you're able to get a refund (However, that isn't straight forward, it can fall under percentage based refund the etc) or the etailer will sanction an instant resolution.

I've been there with ocuk before, one was a motherboard, and they sanctioned a full refund (perfect service) and another I was sanctioned another GPU, which frankly was a massive upgrade (and was far far above and beyond any obligation)

Yeah maximum is 28 days, though I've once had to RMA a GPU to a competitor of OCUK and they took 40 days just to test it, then tried to flog me a slower replacement...

I haven't shopped there since, they can suck a ****

So I suppose I'll just send it off tomorrow and see what happens then.

Not much else I can do really.

Its pretty standard, thats why this thread was made

Although Asus does good stuff, I avoid them cause there RMA is rubbish and takes ages.

Yeah I'm with you on the rubbish support from Asus I had a router made from them and their support was the worst I have experienced. They don't even know what they are doing half the time had to speak to so many different people and was just gong round in circles.
