Has anyone returned or know what the procedure is?

All I can find is the warranty info and I can't make head nor tails of it.

I want to send it back but I believe it's to them and not the reseller.

Any clue?

It *should* be to retailer, intel will accept if retailer is being difficult. You want to email their support I think.

I recommend sending it to intel. Processor rma took me close to two months through the retailer, the template they work to must have 'processors never break' written on it so they just didn't believe me. They'll come through for you, but it may take a while, intel will be quicker.

You sure its dead?

It was either the board or the cpu.

over than the ram everything went into my new build. The board was sent ans cam back within a week but I asked them when I was sorting that out and they said it was intel.

Send it back to intel!
When I built this computer a few years ago,I had problems with the original processor,RMA'd it back twice to the retailer, with it being returned at a ten pounds charge both times, tested as fine!
I then got an RMA off AMD and sent it back. They sent me a new one.
Don't mess about with the retailer, they probably won't believe you,or even test it,just post it back with the charge.

Intel will not accept an RMA request for a "Retail" product, unless you can produce a copy of the original receipt...

Also, for the 1st year, it is the retailer who is responsbile for RMAs of Intel CPUs, however, after th 1st year the retailer can refuse to carry out the RMA, but generally this only happens when they are being difficult.

Another point, a motherbaord is far more lightly to develop a problem than a CPU, so I would check out your motherboard before you start RMAing any CPU...

If I was to send it back to intel haw do I sort out the RMA

There will be a phone number on their (UK) website for warranty/rma purposes...
