If i have to RMA my 7900GT do i need the original packaging? I'm not 100% sure i'll need to RMA it at all yet. The reason i'm worried is that when i try to use the overclocking feature via coolbits i start to get multi-coloured speckles (much like dead pixels on a tft) on my desktop during it followed by the machine locking up.

I threw out the box a while back and am worried that what i described above is a sign of a fault yet to be seen in normal use and that they wont accept it for RMA if i do eventually have to return it. I still have all the bits and pieces and the OC receipt though.

I wouldn't have considered sending it back atm. As i said it's more a worry for the future if the speckles indicate something on it's way out.

Bit of a bugger if i do need the packaging. Thats what i get for being complacent, haven't needed to send a piece of hardware back ever before :p

My evga 7900GT co did the exact same thing so i asked the tech at evga and he said some cards are overclockable and some are not. Mine was not! It had reached the max on stock settings. SO i returned it and got a 7900gt superclocked and testes the overclocking and it works.
Just thought i might had to this topic.

Hi. Seen a number of posts to this effect now. It's the memory on the card not liking being over clocked. I had this problem with a pair of Inno3D GT's from a different etailer, not ocuk, but after a while they started crashing in windows too. I'd open a movie or something and suddenly get little coloured dots all over the screen, then it would start to flash on and off and would required a restart. This started happening to me even at stock speeds, so i RMA'd them and got some Gainward 512's off here. Quite a bit more expensive but well happy with these little beauties!! :D I'd say give it a while and see if all is stable at stock in games and windows. You can try your luck and RMA them as faulty, the worst that can happen is they'll be sent back to you as ok. then you could try and sell them and get abother pair, should be able to get what u paid for them back...
