I need to replace a failing drive in my NAS. I have narrowed it down to either the 8TB WD Gold or the 8TB Seagate Exos.

They are similar in price so the biggest decider for me will be how good the RMA service would be if it failed. I have read a few posts dated a couple of years ago on reddit about having to pay import tax from the Netherland etc. Has anyone RMA'd a drive to either WD or Seagate in the last year or so who could please give me their feedback, cheers.

I had to RMA a brand new 8TB Gold that was DOA a few months ago, WD wanted to send me a reverb!! I was totally livid and said I will leave this issue with my credit card. He then said because it was only purchased 5 days ago they would do a one off and send me a new one, I thought wtf!!

Anyway they sent me a return label no charges because the drive did come from the Netherlands but was returned to a UK warehouse. I changed my mind on getting another gold drive so got a WD Pro.

So RMA was fine.
