Hi All,

Has anyone had to RMA a PPC and request refund before on here.

Unfortunatley we had to RMA our rig a second time (in less than two weeks) and have decided to ask for a refund but we were slightly surprised at the email we received saying that it needed testing which would take 5-7 days when only an 8 hour stress test is "promised" when ordering a pc.

Your RMA has been received at our offices. All RMAs are tested in compliance with manufacturer requirements. This testing process is currently taking around 5-7 days. Once this has been completed we will e-mail you again with an update on progress.

Maybe things would be better if the testing was the other way round and faults would be found before despatch thus saving OCUK money and customers hassle.

The 8 Hour is from boot to finish. The 5-7 Days is when it enters the building, to when a decision is made.

When you send a car for an MOT it will take approx 45 mins if you were to drop of at MOT start time and pickup at finish.

If you send your car in because its not working and they have to diagnose the problem it will likely take a week or two.

Stress testing time does not need to be longer than diagnosis testing time.

You can find out if something works quicker than you can find out why its broken, simple.

If they were to stress test similar to how they diagnose, they would lose 70% of their profit just on man hours. They would have to check every single little part for wear and such.

Stress testing involves: Testing CPU for Heat/Stability, Testing GPU for Heat/Stability, Possible testing of ports, Testing for Ram Stability/Speed.

Next time you pump up a swimming pool, go round the entire thing looking for holes even though there is a high chance there is not any, just encase. Or do what the normal person does, pump it up, fill with water and use, if it deflates then look for a problem.

I dont mean to be rude, just there is logic behind it.

Okay I get your point but I imagine they will see a fault as soon as they try and boot it up so I just dont see why I should wait 5-7 days.

As there has obviously been faults with the machine (2nd RMA & missing parts) I would expect them to hold there hands up and say here's your wonga wonga back have a nice day.

Another little thing was that they signed for receiving the parcel on the 18th but it was not until yesterday (21st) that it was booked in and we received the email. Wonder which date they go by.

The email just means the total time is about 5-7 days, but should they get around to looking at your PC on day 2 and they find the fault, then that's all they'll need, 2 days :)

The reply is standard but it dont always take 5-7 days depends how busy they are, they wont just have yours to check but others as well as they get plenty of rma request each week.

mmmm Plenty of RMA's every week. would have been nice to know before I purchased.

If it was delivered Friday Afternoon, they would not count that as a day. It would wait till Monday for testing.

Well with them selling hundreds of items each week, you can expect 3% to come back faulty, 3% come back as they are no longer wanted and 4% come back as the person who bought it was incompetent and either broke it during install or couldn't figure out how to bolt the GTX670 they bought to their Xbox360...
