So I bought myself the DFI 790FXB M2RSH formy new Phenom II and I've had nothing but problems from the start.

  • The board won't reset when I enter the BIOS and do a "save and exit". It hangs on the "detecting IDE devices" code on the little LED's.
  • It won't reset from a windows reset and hangs on the "detecting memory" error code. I've tried changing the BIOS to provide the 2.0V required by the memory although that's still hit and miss.
  • The front panel audio connector has a hissing noise coming through the headphone jack although I think that's down to the graphics card.
  • Sometimes when I turn it on, the LED's display an error code that isn't even in the book (BIOS corrupted?) and won't boot (Looks like Jc).

I'm at the end of my tether with this board and so far, that seems to be the only thing that's causing problems.

I've already flashed the BIOS to the latest version that's on their website although that didn't seem to make any difference.

I want to make sure that I've eliminated anything else as a possible failure before I think about returning it under warranty as it'll be quite expensive and will leave me without a PC.

*sigh* and now windows fails to boot. The board POSTs fine and displays FF (everything good) although there's nothing on the screen and no HDD activity.

Right well it boots into windows fine as long as I leave the memory voltage un-touched (auto) but that defeats the point of having memory that runs at 2V -.-

Just tried to reset and the POST got stuck on a memory problem. It's brand new memory so I highly doubt that it's the problem.

Not sure if it's motherboard related or not but going by the spate of problems I've been having, I'll vote yet. I was running Prime95 for about 45 minutes with my Phenom 2 940 at a 17x multiplier (3.4GHz) and got a BSOD. Surely this isn't normal especially at such a low clock?

I've wasted enough time and sleep trying to get this damn board to work and now I've just had my last straw.

It's only detecting 1 core in Vista now  and it's no longer running at Gigabit speeds on my network.
