RMAing a gfx card that was part of a system - please advise!

Ouch this is not good at all, one of the many reasons i never buy pre-built systems. I hope they make things right, as it stands they are being very unfair i think.

I would accept nothing less than the full £152+VAT back, or i'd send the entire system back for a refund and contact my bank.

You'll be better off contacting one of the staff members that frequent the forum, such as Gibbo, I'm sure he'll sort your issue out in a satisfactory way.

This isn't the first time I've heard of the webnotes system being awkward to use.

I am quite tempted to just send the system and monitor back, its kind of a matter of principal! I would like what I paid (what I have been invoiced for!) refunded!

I will try to contact Gibbo, he only lists an MSN address and I can't seem to PM him. Are there any other OCUK staff on here that I can contact?

Hi there

Chris the refund lesser amount will be due that in systems we get supported SI stock for using in PC builds only, hence the less refund amount.

However because you have purchased a system from OcUK I shall be happy to sell you a GTX 460 at trade/SI level pricing.

So drop me an email [email protected] and I shall sort this out for your Chris. :)

Looks like it's Gibbo to the rescue (even though since he came back all he seems to have posted is get your wallets out and buy this, it's a bargain.....);)

I RMA'd a Powercolor 4850 1Gb which was part of a full system (Titan Goliath) about 5 weeks ago and sent a webnote yesterday asking if there was any sign of a replacement yet. Today I had an e-mail stating that the post from the far east is taking longer than expected so I can have a HIS 4870 512Mb card which was in the clearance section (oem part http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-100-HT&groupid=595&catid=683&subcat=). The only thing I am concerned about is that at 1920x1200 the lack of memory on that card is going to effect gameplay but i am hoping to upgade to a GTX460/5850 when I can save up some dosh. I think in hindsight I should have put in the webnote that I would be willing to negotiate a discount on a new card.

*sigh*

Unfortunately I was so irate with OCUK I bought a 460 elsewhere! I wish Gibbo was dealing with my complaint from the beginning instead of being copied and pasted the same replies to web notes over and over and having my questions going unanswered time after time!

As said before not all GFX cards are the same retail cards on the website. This is why a lesser amount has been refunded. Patience is a virtue, we are a very busy business.

I work for an independant retailer and the same applies. Our builds do not have the same profit margin for components as retail sales, thus a refund of the product is less.

surely the fact that on his invoice it says the item cost £152.33 +the vat is relevent. i would have thought you cant charge some body one price then give a full refund that isnt of the same value.

My thoughts also. If you put a price on the invoice then thats the price you refund. If the card was worth less because it is in a build or whatever then why not put the price its "worth" on the invoice in the first instance?

As for patience being a virtue. While i can understand the sentiment and know full well just how busy things can get, that is not the customer's problem.

If i had just bought a system from you and wanted something like this sorted i would expect a reply the same day if i called/made a web note before midday. If you cannot as a business deal with this then maybe its time to sort additional cover to the Customer Service dept when it gets busy? :D

I have tried, and it looks like I am just going to be refunded a measly £144. Which ****es me off massively and as a result I have bought a 460 from another company even though I would have preferred to use OCUK.

Thanks to Gibbo for at least offering me something/trying to help, that's more than anyone I sent a web note do was willing to do! Gibbo has offered me cost price on a future purchase on OCUK, which appeases me a little bit. Shame I've already forked out for a system and 24in monitor from them and don't need anything atm! lol
