Road Bike

I know you said £800 tops but if you could go to £900 the the Canyon Roadlite AL is brilliant value. Dunno if it will take full guards though.

If you want a great bike for below your budget then the BTwin Triban bikes all represent about the best value you can get.

Yes OP, you will find a solution in one of the 39,600 replies :D
That's why I don't go into it anymore because it's all over the place.

probably more to do with the fact that you're riding an electric bike ;) he wants a road bike and that thread is all about road cycling he would get good advice there :)

I have 3 bikes but my electric bike actually gives me a better work out. You may laugh but I arrive at work & home sweating way more than I do with either of my 2 other bikes and work colleagues don't understand that if I'm electric why do I come in sweating more. The reason for this is that it is a heavier bike and I have the electric off for at least 95% of the commute but because of my advancing arthritis in my hips, spine and knees I need help for about 200 yards at the most on a very steep bank. The mental advantage this has on my cycle training is enormous because I know if I need a push I can do and I now go everywhere on my bike instead of getting the car out. It really isn't fair to judge unless you know how it can work for you. You probably think we all just freewheel with the throttle on and also remember that when you reach 15mph the electric cuts off so you're on pedal power anyway.

Why is that? Are you not happy with it? It's available for 449 at rutlandcycling.

There's nothing wrong with it and it is a great bike but see my response above.
I'm a daily commuter and I need to know that if I do need help I can have it at the touch of a button.
I really can't explain how much a mental advantage this has given me and I can get home knackered from a strenuous cycle session but with a smile on my face.
