Robert Di Matteo sacked!

Robert Di Matteo, he nearly sounds English!

I bet Gary Megson is kicking himself, WBA would have reappointed him any day of the week!

The general consensus seems to be that he has done well, plus he seems like a decent sort too, must be more to this than meets the eye. I guite liked watching them play tbh.

madness

They're only 4 points off mid table technically. I though Roberto was doing well with the limited squad he had.

lol, everyone in here is mad, again in the past 18 games he's lost 13, thats a 72% LOSS RATE for basically 3 months. They started off the season well thats where the points came from, in the past 3 months they've gone steadily down the table. The thing is he had them playing decent football but you're all ignoring something, early season NEW TEAM form.

Teams get used to other teams and it gets MUCH harder, they get promoted, get a few new players, other prem league teams don't know what to make of them, underestimate them frequently and drop lots of points to them. Then people do their research, learn that one player never cuts inside and always cut off the cross on the outside, how their defence plays, where to make your runs. West Brom as a fairly unknown quantity were an attacking team with a few goals in them. West brom 3 months later as a known quantity, known squad, are getting ripped apart on a regular basis and they are WELL on course for relegation.

Ultimately as said West brom are up and down, they are looking for a manager who can do consistantly well and keep them in the prem league, not one who can consistantly see them go up and down and up and down.

They are showing ambition by making the decision to ditch a manager who for 3 months has been lost and hasn't been able to push the team forwards, or even get back to where they started.

72% loss ratio in Jan/Dec is shocking to be honest, shocking.

This isn't new, Ipswich in the past, along with a dozen other come up and do great for half a season or a season maybe if lucky. Newcastle, West Brom and Blackpool all had their early season "how the heck do we play them" form, Blackpool and West Brom have gone to crap, Blackpool have lost 7 of their last 8 games in the League.

Those guys have essentially lost their "unknown" factor advantage and the more consistant teams are doing better. Form on the last 8 games, Blackpool rock bottom and fast moving down the table, West Brom 19th, moving down the table, Wolves are 15th in the last 8 games and West Ham 10th, where do you think Blackpool/Brom will be in another month, or end of season.

I just meant you had a soft spot for them or a passing interest at least. I wouldn't call myself a massive baggies fan, just that they are my local team etc.

Yeah a soft spot I suppose, I go to the games when I can which in its self brings a hatred for the ****. :):p

Yeh, since ive been back in the area same really. I came back here during mowbray, so since then there was a chance of seeing some semi-attractive stuff.

While dm has a point about his record in the last 3 months, pre-matteo (whoa) we were still yo-yo-ing regardless of style. Yes we've been found out after a good start, but i'd prefer to seem struggle attractively than scrape by being more robust. Just my view of a team that I pay to watch :P

It's the same at the Wolves, they're playing some decent football much like Albion under Mowbray. It's a shame when teams playing good football go down.

Apparently Hughton is the favourite now.

Not that he didn't do brilliantly with Newcastle, but is replacing one unexperienced manager with another really the smartest idea? McClaren and Allardyce I could understand, given their experience with keeping medium-sized clubs away from relegation, but Hughton?

Hmmm.

Allardyce would make sense, he has experience keeping side's up, I know West Brom isn't the Real job that he'd like but it's a start.

BOLLLLLL - for some reason I read Mancini sacked , and I thought WTFFFF (just before the derby)

Absolutely stupid decision about RDM, but when has that ever stopped a Footy chairman

Will he keep them up? Is the Hawthorns a tight little ground where the fans are right on top of the pitch? Or is it a place where expansive free flowing football is better suited? What about the playing staff? Footballers or suited to feeding off knock downs? Because one thing is for sure it head tennis from west brom now for the rest of the season.
