I just introduced my lad to Robo Recall. He is 10.5 years old and has played beat saber, table tennis mini golf and epic rollercoasters in small doses for a few years now but I decided he is old enough for something a little more extreme.

It was a great thing to watch and the 1st time I have had to force him to stop using the headset! Best game ever was the final conclusion!.

I remember being blown away with it myself when I 1st tried it (actually it was more a tech demo back in the day iirc before a full game was released) . visually the quest port is a long way off the pc version but even so the playability is all there.

i need to go back to this and play through it :) this and Lone Echo were the only reasons i wanted to get in to VR at the time.
Lone Echo being the main reason.

RR aged well and still a good experience imho

The PC version is still an amazing game. I put my then teenage daughter (now sadly departed, last year :( ) into the game on my CV1, and when the robots jumped at her in the intro she screamed and started crying! It really freaked her out.

When she recovered she loved playing the game. And what's more on modern wireless headsets it looks stunning.

I wish these old Meta PC games would come to Steam so they could have a wider audience.

The Quest version is pretty amazing considering was developed for Quest 1.

The Oculus DreamDeck demos were the first things I tried in VR and they really impressed me. Gave me some WOW moments, especially the T-Rex running at you down the corridor.

But Robo Recall, was what sold me completely on VR and still stands as one of the defining games/experiences of VR. It's just so good and I am so disappointed that they never made a second. Even the opening scene where you are standing watching the news on the TV and all the Robots turn and look at you. That was an "oh Crap" moment. It showed just how much presence matters in VR and how much fun games can be.

I agree with your son's conclusion, best game ever.

lol I was looking forward to that moment and seeing his reaction. he did jump out of his skin :D

Takes me right back to the early CV1 days when I had never tried touch controllers before and I was totally amazed that I had hands and a sense of physical presence in VR. Robo Recall is still an utterly amazing game, despite it being teleport only.

I think I am right in saying someone modded it to have full locomotion back in the day. I may have a look, won't help for the quest port my lad is playing but I have a nice big play area in my garden for outdoor wireless PCVR so I will go back to it on that.
