apparently they are. oldman will be a character than isnt in the original and sort of the 'conscience' of the movie.

i for one welcome a remake of robocop; at least it's not another ****ing marvel/dc comics remake

The director will be José Padilha who did the excellent documentary 'Bus 174' and the supposedly decent Elite Squad.

This might actually be worth the remake if he's doing it, Tropa de Elite was received very well in Brazil.

Isnt it going to be a bit of a reboot rather than a remake? Well not that there is a lot of difference. Its supposed to be a lot grittier and darker. Although the original was gory, nasty and uber violent this is supposed to be in a much darker way...

We will see i suppose..

I dont think the world needs two films depicting a futuristic law enforcing Robojesus.

I'd buy that for a dollar!

Classic scene was the guy who got caught by a huge shower of acid and after being splattered onto an oncoming cop car they had to use wipers to remove whats left of him.

One of my favorite movies ever. I'm not opposed to a remake/reboot, as long as it's not just a 2 hour, soulless, CGI fest. I'll keep my expectations low and maybe be surprised.

How can you better the original though? The characters were all brilliant....the music was awesome.....the dialogue fantastically cheesy.....god, I love it!

Was trying to explain Robocop to my 9 year-old daughter and she thought I was making it up! I was like "No way! You kids don't know Robocop??!!! OMG!"
