Oh how i wish it was still on:(

Ive been watching old videos on youtube of Hypnodisc and the Destruction that thing caused was just great:D:cool:

Bring it back i say!

All they need to do is drop a crap reality find a star type program and let the engineers come out and rip each other apart again:D

I would love to see what they could come up with today given all the new technology around:cool:

I always liked the people who would design their robots to actually demolish the other ones to the point of needing a complete rebuild. I remember my favourite being one called Razer, which had this big silver "stinger" that would crush whatever got under it, was amusing to watch the 8 year olds who designed the poor piece of bolts it was up against crying at the end.

The American one "battlebots" is back soon apparently, might be picked up by the ESPN. They are making it more realistic again and not as jokey as comedy central made it - and also adding an experimental league, where any weapons go.

It's a shame that it's not on. Every kid wanted to make one and kick some butt, but very few actually managed to make one. I now have the knowledge to actually get something decent, but alas I cannot compete :(

awesome.

was that the one designed by cambridge students? what was the other one, which had a diamond style coating, and had a rapid hitting axe type thing?

.50 cal armour piercing rounds, or will there be some limit?

I'll be watching that :D

Robot Wars was amazing. Although I think the later parts failed it somewhat. Was much better with the tasks and challanges at the beginning rather than just all out battling. Plus it got really rubbish when:

- 99% of robots were wedges
- They all had SHRIMEKs
- None of them were original designs
- None of them actually were designed to cause damage, just disable them
- Random other stuff

It was just evolution in the game.

Once they upped the weight limit from ~80KG to 100KG you saw a lot more imaginitive robots with more destructure weapons though.

Kinetic discs basically became the favoured weapon with awesome destructive power, relatively simple to design and implement too.

Chaos 2 never really got an upgrade when the weight limit was increased, so was effectively competing against robots in a higher class... it was still one of the best robots capable of flipping things out of the ring. With an upgrade (Chaos 3?) it would have been pretty immense.

That was Mortis, my personal favorite. It cost about £40,000 to build IIRC.
