European scientists have embarked on a project to let robots share and store what they discover about the world.

Called RoboEarth it will be a place that robots can upload data to when they master a task, and ask for help in carrying out new ones.

Researchers behind it hope it will allow robots to come into service more quickly, armed with a growing library of knowledge about their human masters.

One step closer to skynet then heh? ;)

we all know it will just be used by the car building robot arms to spout their racist bile about the Asimo's

So robots with their intelligence clustered together? Are they Wifi? Do they get smarter in close proximity to one another???

It's gonna be the Mass Effect effect all over again :(

It's great to think of the possibilities but like the human internet it will turn into one big roboporn **** fest. It will start with a mildly saucy picture of a circuit board and end up with an aibo doing an asimo, while a load of precision german CNC machines look on.

So all it is is a centralised database all bots can access and share collectively?
