Rock or something else on Mars?

If it is a geological formation, it couldn't exist without some sort of weathering or erosion process, which would almost certainly require a flow of liquid (water?) to form it.

As for the edges being sharp, why don't you think about the scale of this? The edges probably are rounded, it's just very big.

I like all those crazy "life on Mars" sites:-) Just look at this:

You're right on the weathering, however you missed out another big erosional process (weathering is really chemical alteration), wind. The amount of sand and rock on Mars and the high winds it gets could easily erode something like that, however it would be more rounded. As for scale, you are right about there being not much so it could be massive, however I'd err on the side of it being less than 100m in height (probably much less, nearer 10-20m) due to both the size of the cliff (if it was more than 100m high that cliff would be bigger than Everest easily!) next to it and the resolution of the cameras the photos probably cam from (again it could probably could be estimated pretty well by planetary scientists that knew the specification of the camera that took it). Also if it was that big there would almost certainly be something around it similar, wereas in fact there appears to be nothing for any distance.

I'd still err on it being either a bit fallen form the cliff or part of a probe fallen to Mars.
