So first acts for Rockness announced

Kasabian & The Chemical Brothers

anyone else going this year, I'm originally from Inverness so have been every year. It really is a good festival. Smaller and more chilled out than T in the Park etc.

I'm hoping to go next year, this year's was absolutely fantastic, start to finish. :)
Everyone seemed to be up for a good time with minimal fuss.

I despise T in the Park, it's just such an effort and attracts a lot more idiots.

It's a great festival, you'll have a cracking time. Not bought my ticket yet but will get it in a couple of months - doesn't tend to sell out.

yeah it's an ace festival! although one of my mate's died in 2007. Idiot took pills from some junkie!! first time and his last!

just dont do drugs!! drink as much as you like :p but dont take anything!

SubClub @ Rockness line-up has been announced for a week or two (extras to be added I imagine):

Modeselektor - Can't wait to see them again although at The Arches soon anyway
Jackmaster - Should be good
Boom Monk Ben - Think the first time I saw him was 2 weeks ago, sounded good
Clouds
HaHaHa
Magda - Want to see, on Richie Hawtin's label I think
Raresh - Again would like to see
Sensu
Harri & Domenic
Matthew Dear
Jamie XX
Optimo - Always excellent
Pro Vinylist Karim
David Barbarossa

Subclub residents will always be good but some nice extra additions there too. Not sure how much time I'll spend in their bit but looks like it will be worth it at anytime of the day.

It's about time this had another bump...
Getting very close now. :D

Wasn't overly sure I was going to go this year, felt the line-up wasn't too great for a good while and cash was/is a bit tight. Couldn't help it though, ordered tickets last weekend and am really looking forward to it.
Hopefully get some nice weather to just chill at the tent all day and then party all night.

Line-up looks pretty solid now, good amount of DJs that I'm hoping to check out.
Very much looking forward to seeing Funk d'void again.
Share the same opinion as above, Optimo will definitely be worth seeing.

The last tent suffered heavily after 2010 Rockness, need to dig out the spare Eurohike 220 for this year. I dread to think what it will smell like... :(

Getting even closer now :)

Any tips on what to take, been told to take a sledge or similar to take booze in?

So did we all have a good time?

Highlights for me were:

DJ Shadow - the set and visuals were both spot on
Modeselektor - always love them
Two Door Cinema Club - surprised how good they sounded live
Kasabian - missed the start of the set for DJ Shadow but sounded great as always
Beardyman - very entertaining
Glasvegas/Nutini - decided to skip Boys Noize for a more chilled out finish to the festival

Security seemed to be tighter this year, with sniffer dogs stopping every person at Buchanan Bus Station and sniffer dogs at the campsite gates periodically throughout the weekend. Still easy to sneak drink in down your wellies but was searched from top to toe twice on my way in.

The arena felt smaller this year, and I didn't think the changes were for the better. It was better when the area next to the arena entrance was only for campers as you had the big wiseman tent in the morning and more toilets specifically for campers. Also the area to the left of the main stage felt wasted without the big tent down there.

All in all an excellent weekend but not sure why they felt the need to make changes to the set up, and the increased security took away a little bit from the easy going vibe. Sitting on the hill in the sunshine looking down over the loch is always one of the best moments of the summer.

I can't really say I gave the layout change a second thought, it was different but we set up our tent at the top of a hill and made the best of it.
Arcadia Afterburner was where I spent most of my time, Derrick Carter on the Sunday whilst the fireworks were going off was great.
The music at the silent disco on Sunday was slightly grim but I had to go, just to drag some more time out.

Simian Mobile Disco were pretty good, Chemical Brothers were great. As expected, Funk D'Void was fantastic.

Folk in the campsite were mostly decent, some guys seemed like they were there only to cause hassle but it was rare to see.
Was not in a good state for the weekend, even had a childs bunny suit on at one point... :|

Still feel absolutely awful but it was a good weekend.

Security was great on the VIP campsite, I had 6 cans on me at a time just in my pocket clear as day walking on with no one caring.

I pretty much can't remember anything except Kasabian and The cribs both were awesome!

I liked the ridiculous amount of Lucozade that was handed out over the weekend, always helped during those run-down mornings/evenings.
Think I must have got about 10 hours sleep over the whole festival. Body is complaining...

That was a definite bonus, the new blackcurrant stuff was amazing! I'm back at work this morning and still feeling like a zombie.
