Rockstar confirms Grand Theft Auto V

I must admit i lost enthusiasm for the GTA series after San Andreas and never even bothered with IV. I kept hearing about all the crap they added turning it into an extreme 'The Sims'...

San Andreas was the best in my opinion. I never finished IV either as the terrible graphics / performance ratio was not worth the gameplay.

Fun in parts, but not worth the clunkiness.

I'll buy it, I'll play it for a month and it'll go on the shelf with all the other GTA's.

I can't stop buying them... but I never play them for longer than a month at most =/

Out of all the series I still prefer San Andreas. I tried coming back to Vice City but I just find myself too limited. I probably would like IV a lot too as it does have a lot of detail but the performance stops me from enjoying the game as the whole experience just feels so clunky.

I hope they reuse the gta sa engine, and avoid the crap gameplay of gta iv. All they had to do was up the texture quality a bit and models in sa and do a new story and it would have sold easily.

This

SA is the high point of the series for me and it looks like it is going to remain forever thus.

I think you will find they might be a bit more experienced and clued up on the IV engine :p

The PC port however, will be bad.

R* are legendary at being canny with their projects, simply becasue they are playing with fire. They are trying to make a living breathing environment and that they have, and it's pushing the capabilities of the game engine and platforms.

Yes, the PC port is a bit rough and hardon the hardware and the console versions had similar problems... but so did every other GTA. They all made hardware chug when they first landed and the engines have enver been perfect, as have the stories. I think people are getting a little hung up over nothing... I really enjoyed all the games and they've only ever gone forwards IMO... peoples problem is the gameplay is just more or less the same and they can't be bothered to explore the environment themselves.

It will not be GTA V, it'll be based on the same engine and will just feature a new environment and main character like they did with GTA III and its "expansions". They will be foolish to call it GTA V IMO. They have the oppertunity to bring back Vice City, and TBoGT does hint quite wildy towards it in places. I really hope it is, it will be stunning in the IV engine.

Whatever they do, we won't hear or see anything until they are happy to show it, and it won't be renders or impressions either. R* market GTA very well and people will rush out and buy it at midnight like I did with IV, but I hope they take the oppertunity to tweak the engine to keep the pedants happy.

Regardin the "foolish to call it GTA V". In a lot of peoples eyes they will think it is not a proper sequel. Which I think they'll want to aim for if it is new characters and what not and enviroment.

It needs a few real changes and improvements, for instance car physics should handle better and be more enjoyable, they need to quit with the blurring or massively tone it down, add more colour, not flashy just nice and natural, its like it has a limited colour pallet, also add a lot more side activity's like saints row 2 did, its often more fun than the missions and makes the game feel more alive and interactive, its often the little things that matter.

Vice city was by far the best of the current series, none of the gimmicky learning to ride bikes, working out etc!
Just fast cars, guns and whores - its what GTA is all about
